Color

Reducing the color on my phone has made my phone feel less addictive. Most configurations I’ve seen remove all color (greyscale), which I find too extreme. Instead, I’ve opted to remove some color (desaturation).

  1. Set up color reduction
    1. Go to Settings => Accessibility => Display & Text Size
    2. Set Differentiate Without Color to "on"
    3. Tap Color Filters
      1. Choose Greyscale
      2. Set the Intensity to taste. I set it to about 75% (this removes 3/4 of the color)
  2. Set up a "Toggle Colors" shortcut ===
    1. Open the "Shortcuts" app
    2. Tap the "+" at the top right to add a new shortcut
    3. Search for "color filters" and select "Set Color Filters"
    4. Change the shortcut from "<Turn> color filters <on>" to "<Toggle> color filters"
    5. Tap the title at the top, "Set Color Filters" and rename it to "Toggle Colors" (or another name of your choice)
    6. Tap "Done" at the top right
  3. Add the shortcut to a convenient place
    1. Add the shortcut to the home screen, Control Center, or assign it to your device's Action Button (if available).
